Garlic Graters & Herb strippers

So, I decided to create some garlic graters and some herb strippers. I looked out there at lots of different designs, as you do. Pinterest is great for that kind of thing. I decided to make small open bowls with two sizes of holes for the herb stripping, a grating surface (more about that in a min), and a pouring edge so that the olive oil, garlic and herbs can be mixed and then poured out, ( on to a salad or into your cooking perhaps). The grating surface proved an interesting one. I wanted something that gave a perfect surface for grating garlic (or indeed ginger), but would look attractive too. I tried several tools to imprint and gouge with but settled on a stamping roller tool I bought a while back from Potclays Ltd. This gives a lovely textured wavy line. It looks great and has the right amount of texture to be a good grating surface. Perfect! So they are now in the kiln for the bisque firing and then it will be the glazing decisions to finish them off!
